"Phoenix Crown"

This series is derived from Once I went to the museum and saw some headwear and phoenix crown relics about Diancui, which made me interested in this technique. After a lot of information has being searched, it is learned that Diancui was made from the feathers of kingfishers, and some were even extracted from live kingfishers in order to ensure its brilliant color. Because of the emergence of the cruel need, massive hunt resulting in a large reduction of kingfishers. I like the ornaments made by this handicraft and deeply addict to the color of those while I also realize that people can not be so cruel to animals because of their selfishness. So there comes an idea to use new materials instead of kingfisher feathers, which will not only protects kingfishers, but also follow the traditional this precious craftwork and the beauty of which could be inherited.The biggest challenge of this series is to try a lot of materials to replace the kingfisher's feathers, such as artificial feathers, embroidery thread, ribbon and so on.In the end, I used  different colors ribbon to draw the wire and then reconstitute them instead of the kingfisher's feather.
